What I do with what you tell me.
This is a small business run by one person. I collect the least I can get away with, I do not sell any of it, and if you ask me to delete you I will.
What I hold
- Your email address. It is how you sign in and how I write to you.
- Whether your membership is live. Kept by Stripe, not by me.
- A scrambled version of your password, if you set one. Not the password. It is put through a one way function with a random value of its own, which means it cannot be turned back into what you typed, by me or by anybody who ever got hold of my records.
- Anything you write at the kitchen table. Your asks come to me and I read them.
What I never see
Your card. Payments go through Stripe. Your card number, its expiry and its security code go from you to Stripe and never touch this site. I can see the last four digits and the card type, the same as on a receipt, and nothing else.
Signing in with Google
If you press the Google button, Google tells me one thing: your email address, and that Google has confirmed it is yours. That is the whole of it. I do not ask for and cannot see your contacts, your files, your calendar, your photographs or anything else in your Google account. You can take that permission back at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions, and you will still be able to sign in here with an emailed link or a password.
The one cookie
There is a single cookie, called bw_session. It keeps you signed in for thirty days so you are not asked again every time you come back. It cannot be read by anything except this site, and it is not sent to anybody. There are no advertising cookies here, no tracking pixels, and no analytics following you around.
Who else touches it, and why
- Stripe takes the payments and holds the record of who is a member.
- Vercel serves the pages.
- Bunny serves the videos. Every video link is signed and stops working after four hours, which is why the videos cannot be passed around.
- Resend sends the emails I send you.
- Google, only if you choose to sign in with it, and only for your email address.
Each of them is doing a job for me and nothing else. Nobody buys this list, because it is not for sale, and I do not hand it to advertisers.
How long I keep it
While you are a member, and for as long afterwards as my books and the tax people require, which is seven years for anything to do with a payment. Write to me and I will delete everything that is not a payment record.

Children
This is not made for children and I do not knowingly take anybody under sixteen as a member.
If this changes
The date at the top changes with it, and if it is a change that matters I will email you rather than quietly edit the page.
